Lindsay Ikin
Mt Beauty, Vic

‘My mother’s old wash basin and dish…a marble slab given to me by a friend…timber from an old church organ which I got from the tip… Apart from the rear sections of both sides, the entire piece was made from timber salvaged from the local tip.’

With closure of the Mt Beauty Timber Mill in 2002, Lindsay Ikin’s redundancy package included a $5,000 retraining grant. ‘As I had always liked working with wood I decided to do the Furniture II course at Wodonga TAFE. I designed and made this dressing table for one of my daughters.’
