Monteleone, Hall, ACT
Quadrant Box
Rock maple, myrtle, myrtle burl veneer,
mulga centre piece
280mm diameter
Materials
Rock maple, myrtle, myrtle burl veneer,
mulga centre piece, plywood, suede lining
An experienced woodworker and friend of
the family, left the mulga to me when
he died several years ago.
The other timbers were chosen for their
interest and contrasting colours. The
burl was chosen for its specific character.
Method
of Construction
Mitre joints and dowel joints were used
to construct the box.
Glues
The glues used were Urea formaldehyde
and AV180.
Finish
Osmo Polyx Oil was used to finish the
box.
Concept
The idea for the box came from wanting
to create something different to the normal
square box that would sit well on a dressing
table as a centrepiece, not something
to be stored in a drawer.
