Rolf Barfoed, Gowrie, ACT
Canberra Institute of Technology
Cert III Cabinet Making

‘This mirror cabinet is the first semester project for third year apprentices studying at the Canberra Institute of Technology. The project was designed to teach us how to create formers and bend plywood, how to hand shape solid timber and hand cut dovetails, how to use templates and jigs and how to create an elliptical frame.
‘I used blackwood, New Guinea rosewood, rock maple, meranti and various plywoods to complete the cabinet. I sanded the piece to 400 grit and sprayed it with lacquer.’
